No Longer the Fashionista

Even though I never considered myeslf a fashionista, I must admit that whatever style I did have has been fading over with my expanding body. Before getting pregnant, I imagined how my body would change and grow.   My dream was that all the weight gained would go to the baby bump and breast only.  And I would have that glow that is all too well known.

Reality is never quite the same.

I try to keep in mind that we all have a warped self image.  That the changes I see happening to my body is not quite what others see.  It's been fairly easy to stay healthy through out the pregnancy because I'm sharing my body with someone so precious to me.  However, it has been hard keeping my Eating Disorder thoughts under control.

Everything will be okay.

Thankfully I have a good support system of family, friends and health professional who are understanding of my craziness and help me through the rough times.

Plus, I know it sounds so superficial... But I'll be going shopping with a good friend today to buy a holiday dress that I can wear to my baby shower and a few other parties I am going to in the next month.  Even though I have been lucky to get a lot of hand-me-down maternity outfits and my mom spoiled me at the H&M Mama store.  A new outfit always seems to make me smile and feel good about my appearance.

Always happy to hear your reports. Pregnancy is harder than people expect and often hits women emotionally. Roll with the punches, buddy. It's all in service of a wonderful thing.

I hope you find a fun new outfit.

I know what you mean about maintaining your individual style while pregnant. My body is changing in ways that I didn't anticipate and I look at my closet lately and go hmmm. I have no idea what it'll be like in a few more months!

It sounds like you're doing well, enjoy your pregnancy :)

Shybiker "Emotional/hormonal" is the best way to describe me right now lol. I love what I'm making right now but my body is going through so many changes it's hard to keep up some days. I did find two pretty dresses which I will be sure to post.

Emmett Katherine I enjoy your style, and I enjoy looking through your blog for ideas on how I can spice up my own pregnancy wardrobe.

I went through the same stuff toward the end of my pregnancy. You know what really helped me? Kam did a photoshoot of me. I was feeling so enormous, bloated, tired, and crappy toward the end, and she reminded me I'd regret it if I didn't do it. So I did. And those pictures came out so beautifully that I was shocked at how great I looked pregnant that close to the end despite how I felt. We looked up some interesting pregnancy photos online and tried to copy them and do some of our own ideas. It was a gift not only to myself but to my daughter someday. Best thing I could've done, and I highly recommend it...even if you don't recognize your immense beauty in the photos right away, someday, I assure you, you will.

Go back here to read my post and see the pics:
