I've Been Caught!

The talented, sweet and beautiful LoveK has tagged me in a fun little blogger game.  I`m not too sure what it`s called but there`s rules.
  • Thank and link back to the person who originally gave you this award.
  • Share 7 things about yourself.
  • Pay the award forward to 10 great bloggers.
  • Contact those bloggers and let them know they have received the award.

I really enjoyed reading LoveK`s post on her 7 things... and to anyone who hasn't checked her out yet, I encourage you to do so.  She`s smart, wise & fabulous.   Now on to a little information about me...

1. Back in November of 2010, I did a very similar post called "Confessions". In the post I talked about Kasuku, my multiple closets, tattoo wishes, colourful hair dreams, my fear of children and winter-woes.

2. I love doing art... painting, photography, drawing, sewing, crafts... anything!  There's something about producing a piece that is so calming.  Since moving to Ottawa 4 years ago, I have hit an "artist-block".  There's many paintings, drawings and other projects partially completed where I cannot bring myself to finish them.  I've had no inspiration & it's upsetting because it's something that I find a lot of joy in.  One day I'll get back into it.

3. It might not come as no surprise but I used to want to be a veterinarian growing up.  I love helping animals, even volunteered on weekends and during the summer at a pet store while in high school just to be around all the adorable critters.  My favorite part was helping with the training of the big birds. It wasn't until the incident where I fainted in biology class because of a pig dissection... then almost failing my math & science classes that confirmed that vet studies wasn't for me.

4. My ultimate professional goal is to be published in an academic journal.  Technically I've achieved this after 2 years of graduating.  I say "technically" because it was a very short description of a presentation that I did at a congress.  So it doesn't really count.  I want to do research and have the results published.

5. Motorcycles are sexy.  Soon I will start to study for my learners permit to ride this sexy beast (the bike, not Chris... I don't need a permit for him).  My dream bike at the moment is the Ninja 400, in electric blue.  But I'm thinking that bike will have to wait at least another year.  I will have to suck up my fear of the bigger bike and learn to ride on our CBR600.  The love for motorcycles has been with me since childhood.  My  Uncle Rick always took me out for rides since as long as I could remember.  As well as letting me play on the bikes he kept around for parts.  I can't wait for the spring!

6. I have a pretty good shot... it's not as good as my freaky little brother who can hit every single skeet... but if a zombie outbreak was to occur, you'd want me in your survival group.  Along with being able to  shoot, I'm familiar and comfortable around guns.  As a kid, when visiting my Uncle Rick, I would soak up all the knowledge he has about guns. I'd watch and assist with the taking apart, cleaning then putting together, also the making of bullets.  In the last few years I have only gone to the range once each summer.  I realize that there is a huge number of people who hate guns and the violence associated with them.  A part of me can understand and appreciate that... it's upsetting when people use weapons against each other.  In the most respectful way, I have to say that I would be more cautious of the person behind the gun, then the gun itself.  I've been taught to respect the power of destruction the weapon holds and always be cautious.

For anyone interested... that's a 357 mag revolver that I'm shooting below.   I prefer this hand gun the best, mostly because I have the best aim with it.  There are many girls on YouTube shooting  this gun, then hitting themselves in the face due to the kickback.  Rule: totally extend your arm and you'll never hit yourself in the face.

7. My birthday is coming up soon.  I will be 25 years old. It will be a time of pouting.  A 1/4 century old is not cool.  But, I will have three wonderful ladies guest posting for me since I will be taking time off to adequately pout and do things to make myself feel good.

Now it's time to tag 10 lovely bloggers & hope that they will post 7 things about themselves.

The Workdays

I had a post typed up but lost it at this moment.  Thinking about what was on it makes me reconsider whether it would be okay to post.  It's about work.  My job is something that I never intended to talk about on this blog.  I'd rather leave work where it's to stay and try to focus on other things when I'm off hours.

Instead of getting myself in an emotional state for the rest of the night I'm going to leave all you Beauties with pictures from an early night drive with my love. As he went to get food, I opted to stay in the car and take pictures.  Apparently my attention span cannot tolerate a ten minute wait in the silent car.

Location: Downtown, Lisgar Street, Parking Lot

My lazy butt refused to 1) get out of the car into the cold and 2) move around in the car... I was perfectly content playing with different settings while sitting.  Most pictures have been deleted as most settings on my little camera didn't work well in the dark.

Off to ponder how I want to deal with this week while making hummus and folding laundry.

Feathers & Sparkles Everywhere

Right now it looks like a bird filled with glitter, gems & everything pretty has exploded in my art room.  Jake is loving the mess and has already run off with a couple feathers in his mouth.  Chris thankfully hasn't seen it, and I'll be keeping the door shut to avert his judging eyes.  But, the craft day with Mo was a great success!

My visit to British Columbia has left me with an obsession for feathered hair pieces.  They are so pretty and paired with glitter, pearls, mirrors, gems and/or flowers can make them adaptable for any season.

My inspiration piece whenever I dive into making feathered hair accessories was bought in a little store outside of Victoria called Baja Rosi's. I love it! And any excuse to wear it, it's in my hair... no matter what the occasion.

These pieces, I made with Jaclyn.  She has made some really pretty ones too.

All of the  brown based, pearl & shell pieces I sent to my sister as a "back to school" gift.  Plus I felt bad that I couldn't help her with the move out to her school-time home.

Today's hair pieces are going to be kept secret for a little while.  Mo & I have big plans on how we want to present them... and possibly make a lot more.  Our theme for this batch is "holiday cheer"... hence the sparkle explosion.  Some of the pieces will be gifts for some of the loved ones of Mo & me... the others we are still debating on what to do.  Hopefully they are liked by others as much as we adore them. xo

Beware of Eye Gouging Bird

It's not complete, but I need some advice.
Is the message of this painting clear?
I want it to say be afraid of the evil bird.
Do I need to be more direct and put a stenciled warning "DANGER, eye gouging bird"?

If you haven't already assumed... it's supposed to be a Halloween joke (a somewhat lame one, but it make me giggle sketching & painting it out)... a sign to be hung on the door to Hercules's room. Some people, for whatever reason, are afraid of adorable birdies.  So I want to be clever/witty/cheesy on warning people of what room the bird's in.

Really guests aren't in danger of our little Hercules.  He is just about the sweetest bird out there.

Mail for Sarah

It took two weeks but finally, the package for my sister arrived.  I was supposed to help her move some furniture to her new place, using my truck.  But, it's a short bed and couldn't even fit half of her stuff.  I felt bad.  So I made her gifts.

Feathered hair accessories that are inspired by Victoria.  During the the girl's BC vacation we kept seeing these really neat feathered accessories but couldn't find any stores that sold them.  It was unfortunate. Krista, Jacklyn, Maggie and I had a craft night to make these feathered accessories that we saw and adored.  I thought of my sister, because she likes trendy hand-made things.  These are the gifts I gave to her.

Started Flickr

Once again, I spend way too much time debating simple decisions.  This time is was on whether to open a Flickr account or not....

Like who would be interested in looking at my pictures?  Answer: my family & friends would but strangers probably not as much.  So should I make the account an invite only? There are so many thoughts that run through my head before posting, like the what ifs? who would care? is this too exposing? Oh well.  I finally decided to just jump into it.  Might as well, right?! The only frustrating thing is that there is a limit to the pictures you can post per month for free.   I was only able to post about 40, which is kind of lame.

Right now I will stick to the free account.  Unless there is a demand to see more pictures, then I'll splurge for the cheap yearly account.  So check out some of my pictures!
