Sleepless Sweet Dreaming

Friday night was spent in doing the needed but disgusting task of cleaning Kasuku's cage.  I know I shouldn't post bad things about a lovely person who has given me a wonderful opportunity (and there is the chance that she can see this) but I must vent.   The cage was horrid.  It made me sad to think that a living being had to sleep, eat and live in such filth then it made me mad.  Cleaning took 2 hours in the garage with tons of hot soapy water and a tough scrub brush.  Then another hour with steel wool.  Then about 2 more hours of rinsing it off and getting all the little shits.  Then another hour to clean the toys, which about half were thrown out because there was no hope for them.  There.  I'm done.

Falling asleep was impossible.  I had that feeling a child has on Christmas Eve.  This morning we will be picking up Kasuku.  With only about 4 hours of restless sleep, I feel good.  It's a silly to be this excited for an adoption of a parrot but I don't care.  I'm happy to be bringing Kasuku home.

I must apologize for filling this blog with parrot talk over the last few days.  Really, there isn't too much other than this going on.  Work is about the same frustrations which there's no point in boring others with "work rants".  But there might be some positive changes going down at work.  I just can bring myself to talk about them because I feel like it will then be jinxed.

So maybe all you Beauties can share what your dream pet is?  I would love to hear what people dream about having as a furry, feathered or scaled companion.  Obviously, you guys can take a stab at mine.  However, if we were living in a dream world... I would love a tiger and a Pegasus.

Wow! How exciting! I've only ever known one other person who had birds as as pets.

I already own one half of my dream pet. I have an adorable mini-schnauzer named Ingaborga who is full of sass.
I am hoping to get a black french bulldog, name him Boris and have my own Russian spy-inspired dog duo!
I'll dress them in matching KGB sweaters. It'll be adorable!

Good luck with the bird!x

Don't apologize: your blog is a journal of your life -- and your life right now has a bird in it!

Besides, your affection for the new pet is interesting and unusual, providing entertainment for the rest of us.

I've had several pets in my lifetime (dogs, cats, turtle, parakeet) and I most miss having a dog. They are such loving, intuitive companions.

i also always wanted a ferret.cause they are so funny and weird and always happy.

Ashley McConnell AWE! That K9 duo would be too adorable. Thanks for the kind words, Kasuku seems to be settling in nicely.

Thank you Shybiker you're always so very supportive :) I do love animals, it's why I spent all of high school volunteering at a pet store and had dreams of being a vet... but fainting during a pig dissection & sucking at science terminated that dream. Dogs are amazing animals.

Jaclyn you make me smile :) One day you'll own a lot of land and can do the rescue farm you've always dreamed of. I'll be your number one supporter.

Sweden a raccoon? You are brave, they have horrible reputations for being vicious. But a ferret... they are adorable! In our first apartment, our neighbors had a two ferrets who would scratch at our door. Every so often we would let Jake out to play with them in the hallway. It was funny to see the ferrets pick on our big tough cat. They were so playful.
