This Thursday, April 21st an amazing event is happening at the Museum of Nature. A fashionable tea party to raise money for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. Recently I did a post on Twenty York Street to get the word out so if you haven't already, check it out. I'm really excited to be going to report on the Royal ParTea for Twenty York Street. But of course I have NO CLUE what to wear. Typical, huh?! My solution was to send out tweets, and tweet Jeanne Beker herself, who responded:
or a demure little dress....
and a hat could be the perfect touch!"
How awesome is Jeanne Beker to tweet back?! Now that I have adequately raided my closet and google "demure dress", I'm still at a lost on what to wear. Most of the dresses I own are quite short, which doesn't fit the modest description I read for "demure". So instead of staring at a pile of clothes, I'm going to throw it my dilemma out there to anyone who is out there reading this.
Dress #1: White lace, mini dress from a forgettable discount store
Dress #2: Brown, wrap around dress from Dynamite
Dress #3: Purple patterned puff-mini dress from Urban Behavior
Dress #4: Navy blue with military style buttons, mini dress, gift from Marilou
Dress #5: Cream turtle neck dress from Zara
Dress #6: Pink ruffled mini dress from H & M
Dress #7: Blue with cream lace maxi dress and wool shrug from Forever 21
I apologize for the yellow lighting and phone quality pictures. It was a super long day with my final exams, appointments, dates with old friends and the all important 5 p.m. power nap. Let me know if you have any favourites or suggestions on what to wear... I'm totally up for a shopping trip before Thursday and any excuse is a good one.

I like #1 and #6 :) hope to see you there lovely
The white lace dress is just lovely! Are you going to wear some of your DIY hair pieces? Those would look great! I didn't realize it was tomorrow- I hope you have a fabulous time!
P.S. Jake is just like Marley- always peeking around corners trying to get in pictures :)
Heidi and I both love the white lace mini dress. It was instantly my first choice, especially with the shoes! Perfect! My roommate's second pick was the navy dress with the buttons.
<3 J.
nice outfits, I'm sure whatever you picked you will look lovely, see you tomrrow!
I love the fifth one! sounds like so much fun :) really cute!
xoxo
This is such a funny coincidence: minutes before reading your post, I wrote about wanting to go to a tea party. http://tinyurl.com/3r6jdpd I vote for dresses 3 and 4.
Thanks everyone for your comments!! I really appreciate it, especially since I am clueless for picking out something to wear. Right now I think there is a "winner". xo
I like #1 and #2, but it's hard to mess with animal instincts... and your cat clearly made his pick! I was planning on a chic suit or a demure dress, but then I got these killer trousers ... and the weather, well, it's hard not to let it come into play!
Dress #1 for sure (but obvs love them all!!!)
#1 and #6 are my faves!! #1 reminds me more of "demure" because it's so sweet and ladylike. But #6, can you say HOT?! You'll be stunning in any of those, but those two are my picks.
it's probably too late but I LOVE #4 and #7. Have fun!!!
1 or 2, i love number 2, also looks so good with heels. i wished i could wear heels!! i mean i CAN but i refuse to be uncomfortable lol.
pink ruffles WOW!
Wow. Thanks everyone for all of the comments!! Really it makes my day to have such a great response.
I decided to go with the white dress. It seemed to me as the most appropriate Tea Party dress. Plus it is so adorable and innocent looking. I did change up the accessories to make it look more chic. A post is soon to come on either my blog or 20 York Street.
I think this is one of the most important information for me. And i am glad reading your article. But should remark on few general things, The website style is perfect, the articles is really nice
