I've Been Caught!

The talented, sweet and beautiful LoveK has tagged me in a fun little blogger game.  I`m not too sure what it`s called but there`s rules.
  • Thank and link back to the person who originally gave you this award.
  • Share 7 things about yourself.
  • Pay the award forward to 10 great bloggers.
  • Contact those bloggers and let them know they have received the award.

I really enjoyed reading LoveK`s post on her 7 things... and to anyone who hasn't checked her out yet, I encourage you to do so.  She`s smart, wise & fabulous.   Now on to a little information about me...

1. Back in November of 2010, I did a very similar post called "Confessions". In the post I talked about Kasuku, my multiple closets, tattoo wishes, colourful hair dreams, my fear of children and winter-woes.

2. I love doing art... painting, photography, drawing, sewing, crafts... anything!  There's something about producing a piece that is so calming.  Since moving to Ottawa 4 years ago, I have hit an "artist-block".  There's many paintings, drawings and other projects partially completed where I cannot bring myself to finish them.  I've had no inspiration & it's upsetting because it's something that I find a lot of joy in.  One day I'll get back into it.

3. It might not come as no surprise but I used to want to be a veterinarian growing up.  I love helping animals, even volunteered on weekends and during the summer at a pet store while in high school just to be around all the adorable critters.  My favorite part was helping with the training of the big birds. It wasn't until the incident where I fainted in biology class because of a pig dissection... then almost failing my math & science classes that confirmed that vet studies wasn't for me.

4. My ultimate professional goal is to be published in an academic journal.  Technically I've achieved this after 2 years of graduating.  I say "technically" because it was a very short description of a presentation that I did at a congress.  So it doesn't really count.  I want to do research and have the results published.

5. Motorcycles are sexy.  Soon I will start to study for my learners permit to ride this sexy beast (the bike, not Chris... I don't need a permit for him).  My dream bike at the moment is the Ninja 400, in electric blue.  But I'm thinking that bike will have to wait at least another year.  I will have to suck up my fear of the bigger bike and learn to ride on our CBR600.  The love for motorcycles has been with me since childhood.  My  Uncle Rick always took me out for rides since as long as I could remember.  As well as letting me play on the bikes he kept around for parts.  I can't wait for the spring!

6. I have a pretty good shot... it's not as good as my freaky little brother who can hit every single skeet... but if a zombie outbreak was to occur, you'd want me in your survival group.  Along with being able to  shoot, I'm familiar and comfortable around guns.  As a kid, when visiting my Uncle Rick, I would soak up all the knowledge he has about guns. I'd watch and assist with the taking apart, cleaning then putting together, also the making of bullets.  In the last few years I have only gone to the range once each summer.  I realize that there is a huge number of people who hate guns and the violence associated with them.  A part of me can understand and appreciate that... it's upsetting when people use weapons against each other.  In the most respectful way, I have to say that I would be more cautious of the person behind the gun, then the gun itself.  I've been taught to respect the power of destruction the weapon holds and always be cautious.

For anyone interested... that's a 357 mag revolver that I'm shooting below.   I prefer this hand gun the best, mostly because I have the best aim with it.  There are many girls on YouTube shooting  this gun, then hitting themselves in the face due to the kickback.  Rule: totally extend your arm and you'll never hit yourself in the face.

7. My birthday is coming up soon.  I will be 25 years old. It will be a time of pouting.  A 1/4 century old is not cool.  But, I will have three wonderful ladies guest posting for me since I will be taking time off to adequately pout and do things to make myself feel good.

Now it's time to tag 10 lovely bloggers & hope that they will post 7 things about themselves.

It's a Better Day

Waking up was the hardest thing to do this morning.  But a few things got me going...
As much as I wanted to, I couldn't hide and give up on the day.

What got me going: 1) Before Chris left he was extra sweet while I was still wrapped up in blankets, not wanting to go anywhere. 2) Reading encouraging comments from fellow bloggers who some I probably freaked out with my anger and sadness (sorry guys). 3) My mom.  She sent me adorable jokes that were made up by adorable little ones...

"Where do sailors take their baths?".... my inappropriate response (I'm sure you can all take a good guess at what it was),  answer: "In a tubmarine" Ha. Ha.

Small photographs as my face is covered in pimples and I have gone back to not wearing any make-up.  Stress is the worst thing for my skin.

Today is better.
I am still stressed out, but maybe it's the holidays... Maybe it's my shrink pushing me to work really hard on my issues. Excuses. Excuses. Excuses...

I took things slowly today, took breaks and did a lot of deep breathing.

Positive things that has happened recently:

~*~ Had a great coffee date with an old friend, Dave.  We've been friends since high school but went our separate ways after college... for no reason in particular.  It's been about three years since he's moved to Ottawa, and last week was the first time we've have gotten together to catch up.  Like good friends, it has felt like no time has passed since we have last hung out.

~*~ For followers, I have reached my favorite number: 17 :) For whatever reason, that made me happy.  Thank you Ashley from Dare to Unravel! If you haven't checked out her blog, do it.  She's a great writer, has an awesome sense of style and a lot of amazing art posted.

~*~ I've successfully peer pressured a friend into blogging: YoungChronos from The World Through My Eyes.  That's not his real name, but I won't tell you his secret.  He's a great guy, like a big & older brother to moi, smart and so great to talk to.  There has been countless nights were we will talk about "what ifs" and theories of life. My favorite "what if" is the zombie Apocalypse... speaking of zombies... DUDE, you still have my book!  And we won't talk about how he cheated at a contest for leader of the survival group.  It's always fun times when Chronos is around.  AND Obviously I'm going to tell you all to check him out.

~*~ There's an exciting Ottawa Fashion Bloggers dinner coming up next week.  Emily from Tinfoil Tiaras was a total sweetheart in setting it all up.  I'm so excited to meet all the beauties. Of course I'll be taking pictures and blogging all about it.

{tank top: thrift/cardigan: Forever 21/belt: Spring/black skinnies: Smart Set/necklace: Urban Behavior}

Side note: Spelling behaviour the American way always sits funky with me.... probably because I write out behaviour so many times a day.  For what reason? That's a secret nah.na :-p hehe

I'm excited for tomorrow.  It will be a wonderful craft day with a great friend, Mo.  We will be covered in glue and glitter by the end of the day.  Now... I am off to catch up one everyone's blog as I have been M.I.A. since my final exam is December 10th.  But Friday night & the weekend, I think it necessary to take long blogger & other breaks.

All Hallows Eve

My attempt at hosting a party went over fairly well... I believe it was successful.  It was great hanging out with some of my work buddies.  Sometimes spending a good time with your co-workers relieves that built up tension that you feel when going to work.

However, I'm sad to report that sending out invitations saying "costumes optional" has lead to me being to only one dressed up.  There were some people who wore a head piece or had a mask in tow, but not hard core costume like moi.  I felt a little bit odd in my goth make-up, black resident-evil design dress and wig with a spider clip.

Oh well.  Next time, costumes are simply not optional.

Please excuse the towels behind me, I promise to be more mindful of my backdrop for future self portraits.  Or at least try to be more mindful... I'm fairly ditzy on a good day.   My make-up inspiration came from a super talented girl named Doe Deere, she calls this look "Bird of a Feather"

End of the night make-up shoot.  I gotta learn to re-apply red lipstick if I ever decide to wear it again.  I'm too used to not wearing lipstick, so re-applying never crossed my mind after eating and drinking.  Ooops.  The wig was taken off after about 2 hours... it got way too hot and uncomfortable.  I'm such a wimp.

Last night it snowed!
Only in Canada can you have a few days of 15-20 degree weather,
then only two days later have snow on the ground.
You gotta love this country.

Tonight we will be handing out candy and watching scary movies.
I'm beyond excited for the show, "Walking Dead"....  This zombie obsession is unhealthy and a little sick.

Chris showed me many previews for the XBox 360 Kinect.  It's sick.  I want it!  We have the most perfect room that's totally empty, so I can go hard core.  I love games but can never really work the controller. Most of my friends know that I have always dreamed of games that all you had to do is move to control the characters.  I challenging anyone to a Mortal Combat!  (Or to join me in Resident Evil.)  Your ass will be kicked :-p But you are warned, I get a little bit competitive with games... just ask Jaclyn about me playing Monopoly and Candy Land... it's a little scary.

There's so much more to blog about.  My Ottawa Fashion Week experience is to come!  But studying must come before I dive into uploading tons of pictures and blabbing.

Let's Talk Zombies

My first adult party, in my first house is happening tomorrow! I'm so excited and nervous. All of my skeletons are hung up, the graves have been dug, my wig has been fixed up for my costume and the house is cleaned. All that needs to be done is some last minute shopping.

The week hasn't been as stressful as anticipated. Busy, yes but taking on every task one at a time. I have to change my mind set to a more positive tune. Living in negativity and stress just causes me headaches and wrinkles.

Back to Halloweenie topics. Anyone out there going to be watching the "Walking Dead" premier on Halloween night? I'm so excited for this zombie series. AMC keeps promoting it with the actors talking about the inevablity of a zombie attack. So much fun!!! Everyone who knows me, knows I love talking zombies. How would you survive? Are you ready? Would you give up or just lock yourself in the tallest building hoping for rescue? Would you go in to attack the fuckers with machete blazing? Or would you stick to the outskirts of towns, always traveling to outrun them? Do you prefer a chainsaw or machete? So many different options. If you don't know what you'd do, read the "Zombie Survival Guide", it could save your life.

Brain Dead from Florescent Lights

I've been a non-committal blogger.  There was no time this week to update y'all on what I've been up to... So here is a quick summary:

The work week just went by in a blur.  Whether it was the rainy weather or the florescent lights, I felt tired.  Before a staff meeting, I turned to a wonderful colleague of mine, just to inform her that  I was counting down untill nap time.  She giggled and nicely complimented me on my joke.  Sadly, I so was not kidding.  There was a 5 p.m. nap.

Jaclyn's dad sent me these delicious peppers from his garden.  He really has a talent for growing yummy vegetables.  I have a talent for killing all plants that enter our home.  It's upsetting really, all death sentences I have given to undeserving flowers.  J's dad must teach me how to keep gardens alive.

Going to a university book store brought back unpleasant memories of how much text books cost.  Even though my parents were really kind to buy my books,  still those numbers on the receipt were worrisome.  I debated a friend's point that  sometimes texts are not used in class or that there are ones to borrow in the library.

Buying the text book won out over fighting for the limited copies at the school's library.

This coming week I will have my first class.  The back-to-school nerves have been building instead of fading over the past week.  I've enrolled into a class that sounds really interesting.  But studying was never a skill I performed well.  My attention span is way too short.  An example of that is my many hour plus long breaks from writing this entry. With studying, I'm concerned that I won't concentrate between the hours of work and other shit.   Urg...
Chris and I spent a pleasant evening with Momma C & family. A few nights later we caught up with his sister.   Tomorrow will be brunch with Mom, Dad & hopefully Ferris (the adorable pug).  There's very few family members that live in the same city.  So it's uncommon to have so many family gatherings in one week.

Resident Evil: Afterlife was awesome!  All the fans out there, go & see it!  I love the direction that they are going with the film series.  It's such an action-pack and exciting story.

There's less than two weeks until the big move.  Chris and I are both anxiously awaiting the day that we get to stop apartment living.  Most of our conversations surround the topics of renovations, landscaping, and decorating the new home.  It's so silly, but I'm addicted to the Home & Garden Network.  Does this make me old?

We haven't begun to pack yet.  Most likely we will be spending a late night before the move, packing. & cleaning  That was our style the last move and I have a feeling it will happen this time too.

So how do others usually sign off of these thing? ... Writing a blog is odd and confusing at times... Like, is there blog-etiquette? Does the closing line need to be witty or creative?  Hope all of you have a wonderful Saturday night! <3

Afterlife

I am beyond excited! Today, it has come: Resident Evil, Afterlife. It's a good day. Tonight we are having our great friends and fellow fans come over to watch Resident Evil 1&2; tomorrow we are doing 3&4. The next two days will be all about zombies. There will be debates on the best way to survive, the best way to destroy and most likely wagers on who will survive. I can be a geek at times. Pretending and imagining is a great mental outlet. My days are filled with emotionally & mentally intense situations which feeds my curiosity but can be exhausting. Fiction, fun and art are my releases.

Afterlife, Coming Soon

Confession: I am a cult fan of the Resident Evil film series

Is it weird that I am excitedly counting down until the opening of Resident Evil: Afterlife.  Months ago, Chris and I were in the theater when the preview come on.  The only way to describe my reaction was, excitement beyond words.  Poor Chris was punched repeatedly in the arm while I jumped up and down in my seat.  I am a geek at heart.  And zombies are just awesome.  Another part of this confusion is when asked, do you seriously think zombies could exist? My answer is:

"Yea...*pause to ponder*.... zombies could totally be real.  How would you survive the apocalypse?"
